The present watch is an exceptionally preserved and unpolished example of a GMT-Master in 18k gold with an extremely rare straight hour and minute hands nicknamed the "Concorde" due to its appearance in a Rolex advertisement about Concorde pilots from the late 1960s.This two-decade period represents a significant portion of the Rolex’s history and is recognized by most watch collectors as the golden era of vintage-sports watches from any manufacturer. A very early and unpolished “PCG” GMT-Master reference . In 1959 Rolex introduced an updated version of this model that came with a new model reference of 1675. The Rolex GMT-Master [Reference 1675] also added crown guards as seen below in the "I Want A Good Watch" brochure. Granted, at first look, the Rolex GMT Master Concorde, ref. 1675/8, does not look very utilitarian.
