However, the limitations of its Naiad winding crown at shallow depths brought the MOD back to Rolex just four years later in 1971.Lot 189: A circa 1978 Rolex Submariner "MilSub" ref. 5517 included in the Phillips Geneva Watch Auction: XX. These did not have the Mercedes hands but instead had a high visibility, thicker hand and the owners’ individual service numbers engraved on the back and include the year of production.
